Tropical Storm ONDOY Lashes Electronics Companies

Tropical Storm ONDOY (17W) with international name KETSANA Hits Electronics Company.

Many manufacturing companies decided to cancel Production operation tonight and tomorrow A shift due to reports received that majority of pick up points of shuttle buses are flooded and not passable cause my Tropical Storm ONDOY.

This cancellation results to Sales drop for these companies.

For most companies, end of month shipment is very important since companies are pushing for higher sales.

With the effect of Tropical Storm ONDOY, we had to change the schedules of our production operators for today and tomorrow. Below are the schedules needed to be changed. Almost half day of was consume in re-arranging of schedules.

1.) Work Schedule of employees

2.) Production Plan

3.) Shipment Plan

4.) Sales Plan

5.) Inventory Plan

6.) Logistics Trucking Schedule

See below for more information on Tropical Storm ONDOY:

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., national chairman of the NDCC, said he himself was forced to use the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) on his way to office in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, from Pasay City because there was no passable road."

This kind of flash floods in Metro Manila took us all by surprise," he said, adding that flooding was also reported in Bulacan and Pampanga provinces north of Manila.

In an interview with GMA News, he urged motorists to stay home to avoid getting caught in the floods. He also called on the MRT and Light Rail Transit (LRT) authorities not to stop their operations for the benefit of stranded commuters.

Ondoy (international code name Ketsana), packing maximum winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph, slammed into the eastern side of Luzon Island from the Pacific Ocean before noon Saturday.

It was crossing Central Luzon and was expected to be 230 km west-northwest of Iba, Zambales by Sunday morning as it continues to move into the South China Sea.

At least 12 areas in Luzon were placed under Storm Signal No. 2 as Ondoy made landfall near the boundary of Aurora and Quezon provinces.

A dozen flights in and out of central and northern Philippines were canceled because of poor visibility, airport officials said. Power distributor Meralco cut off electric services to some flooded areas in metropolitan Manila to prevent accidents, spokesman Joel Zaldarriaga said.

Hundreds of vehicles stalled in flooded streets around the capital and nearly 2,000 passengers and more than 150 vehicles were stranded in ports in several provinces south of Manila after the coast guard suspended ferry operations.

Weather forecasters advised those living along the coast under Signal No. 2 to be on alert against big waves generated by the storm.

Although Metro Manila was only under Storm Signal No. 1, many places were reported to be heavily flooded, leaving thousands of motorists and commuters stranded.

A resident of Kamias Street in Quezon City called GMANews.TV to say that floods have reached chest level in the area and many residents were stranded.

"We are flooded here! We have no second floor. Nalulunod na kami dito (We're drowning already)," Leah Centeno said.

Many vehicles were stranded in front of Camp Aguinaldo, the military headquarters in Quezon City, as floodwaters had risen above chest level and visibility was almost zero.

Henry Cabural, one of 30 passengers of a stranded provincial bus, told GMANews.TV in a phone interview that they opted to stay inside as flood waters already entered the driver's area and was rising.

"Kanina pa kami dito. Wala nang makadaan. Yung maliliit na kotse bubong na lang ang nakikita (We've been here for a long time. No one can pass through anymore. Only the top of small cars are visible)," Cabural said.

What really happens during Interview?

Who among Jobseekers has gone through interviews?

Almost all; right? During interview did you wait? You bet I did many times.

Were you wondering why employers kept their applicants waiting?

Well for most, schedules are delayed due to below problems:

1.) Sudden problem arise that needs immediate attention

2.) There is an emergency meeting that was not originally scheduled. To give you a glimpse of our meeting schedule, see below.

Photobucket

3.) Miscommunication on the schedule between HR and Interviewer

Now if you are scheduled for an interview, below tips shall help you.

1.) Expect that above problems may arise so do not schedule another activity right after your interview

2.) Bring Food. Some companies do not allow visitors inside their bldg so it is better to bring some crackers

3.) Bring a Fan. Some companies do not have aircon in their waiting area

4.) Be geared to walk. Expect that sometimes there are are no available jeep to transport guest from the company to the entrance.

5.) Bring a book or anything to pass the time.

The 10 Worst Job Tips Ever

The world abounds in bad advice for job-seekers. Here are some spectacularly unsound directives
By Liz Ryan

Nearly every day, someone sends me a bit of astounding job-search advice from a blog or a newsletter. Some of this advice seems to come directly from the planet X-19, and some of it seems to have been made up on the spot. Here are 10 of my favorite pieces of atrocious job-search advice, for you to read and ignore at all costs:

1. DON'T WRAP IT UP

The Summary or Objective at the top of your résumé is the wrap-up; It tells the reader, "This person knows who s/he is, what s/he's done, and why it matters." Your Summary shows off your writing skills, shows that you know what's salient in your background, and puts a point on the arrow of your résumé. Don't skip it, no matter who tells you it's not necessary or important.

2. TELL US EVERYTHING

Another piece of horrendous job search advice tells job-seekers to share as much information as possible. A post-millennium résumé uses up two pages, maximum, when it's printed. (Academic CVs are another story.) Editing is a business skill, after all—just tell us what's most noteworthy in your long list of impressive feats.

3. USE CORPORATESPEAK

Any résumé that trumpets "cross-functional facilitation of multi-level teams" is headed straight for the shredder. The worst job-search advice tells us to write our résumés using ponderous corporate boilerplate that sinks a smart person's résumé like a stone. Please ignore that advice, and write your résumé the way you speak (BusinessWeek.com, 8/22/08).

4. DON'T EVER POSTPONE A PHONE SCREEN

A very bad bit of job-search advice says "Whatever you do, don't ever miss a phone screen! Even if you're in the shower or on your way to be the best man at your brother's wedding, make time for that phone interview!" This is good advice is your job-search philosophy emphasizes groveling. I don't recommend this approach. Let the would-be phone-screener know that you're tied up at the moment but would be happy to speak at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, or some other convenient time. Lock in the time during that first call, but don't contort your life to fit the screener's schedule.

5. DON'T BRING UP MONEY

Do bring up money (BusinessWeek.com, 8/7/08) by the second interview, and let the employers know what your salary requirements are before they start getting ideas that perhaps you're a trust-fund baby and could bring your formidable skills over to XYZ Corp. for a cool $45,000. Set them straight, at the first opportunity.

6. SEND YOUR RESUME VIA AN ONLINE JOB AD OR THE COMPANY WEB SITE, ONLY

Successful job-seekers use friends, LinkedIn contacts, and anybody else in their network to locate and reach out to contacts inside a target employer. Playing by the rules often gets your résumé pitched into the abyss at the far end of the e-mail address talent@xyzcorp.com. If you've got a way into the decision-maker's office, use it. Ignore advice that instructs you to send one résumé via the company Web site and wait (and wait, and wait) to hear from them.

7. NEVER SEND A PAPER RESUME

I've been recommending sending snail-mail letters to corporate job-search target contacts for three or four years now, and people tell me it's working. The response rate is higher, and the approach is friendlier. A surface-mail letter can often get you an interview in a case where an e-mail would get ignored or spam-filtered. One friend of mine sent her surface-mail résumé and cover letter to a major company's COO in New York, and got a call a week later from a general manager wanting to interview her in Phoenix, where she lives. She showed up at the interview to see her paper letter—yes, her actual, signed letter, on bond paper—and résumé sitting on his desk in Phoenix (probably conveyed via an old-fashioned Inter-Office envelope). An e-mail might have ended up in the COO's spam folder.

8. WAIT FOR THEM TO CALL YOU

You can't wait for companies to call you back. You've got to call and follow up on the résumés you've sent. If an ad says "no calls," use your LinkedIn connections to put you in touch with someone who can put in a word with the hiring manager. Don't sit and wait for the call to come. Your résumé is in a stack with 150 others, and if you don't push it up the pipeline, no one will.

9. GIVE THEM EVERYTHING.

Give them your résumé, your cover letter, and your time in a phone-screen or face-to-face interview. But don't give anyone your list of references until it's clear that mutual interest to move forward exists (usually after two interviews), and don't fill out endless tests and questionnaires in the hope of perhaps getting an audience with the Emperor. Let the employers know that you'd be happy to talk (ideally on the phone at first) to see whether your interests and theirs intersect. If there's a good match, you'll feel better about sharing more time and energy on whatever tests and exercises they've constructed to weed out unsuitable candidates. Maybe.

10. POST YOUR RESUME ON EVERY JOB BOARD

This is the best way in the world to get overexposed and undervalued in the job market. (Exception: If you're looking for contract or journeyman IT work, it's a great idea to post your credentials all over.) People will find your LinkedIn profile if they're looking and if you've taken the time to fill it out with pithy details of your background. If you're not employed, include a headline like "Online Marketer ISO Next Challenge" or "Controller Seeking Company Seeking Controller." Your résumé posted on a job board is a spam-and-scam magnet and a mark that your network isn't as robust as it might be. These aren't the signs you want to put out there. Use your network (vs. the world at large) to help you spread the job-search word.

My Japanese Boss

Overwhelming!
I believe that is the best adjective to describe my job now as Production Control Senior Supervisor. Sometimes, I still can’t believe the fast change and increment of my position in a Japanese Company(PCP) especially when I look back how I started. It was January, 2002 then when I pass my resume' in a Japanese company in one of the Economic Zones in Calamba. I was called for an interview 1 week later. It was a panel interview. The interviewers were 1 Manufacturing Japanese manager, 1 Filipino Manufacturing Supervisor and 1 Filipino Human Resource Manager. There were 5 interviewees but only one of us will be hired. It was actually a short interview. Of course I was hired. In one of my blog I will share with you what happened during that that made the panel interviewers decide to choose me which my Japanese finally revealed after 1 month os working with him.
It was February then when I became a member of PCP family as Material Control Engineer. A skinny, hopeful, fresh graduate who doesn’t have any idea as to what a material control engineer does. I was nervous when I found out that I’ll be using excel sheet in almost all reports; a computer application which I have no idea how to use it. I was also scared then for I know that I’ll be paid but I don’t know how to work for it.My first few months’ of working in PCP was truly frustrating. I just can’t get my reports right. If it isn’t the format, the font, the boarder, or the alignment and much worst my formula isn’t correct. Everyday I received endless reprimands and worst, I received comparison between me and other staff from my Japanese Boss. It was really foul comparing you and telling shamelessly how bad your performance is compared to others. Well, I wasn’t a robot; those spiteful words thrown at me hurts so badly. I’ve wanted to learn immediately everything that needs to be learned but this is not school. There are no books to study. The company has just started too, thus, there are no references. There isn’t no way to learn but through his own way; “The trial and error method”. The daily scolding continues until when I reached the month when I said to my self that I couldn’t continue anymore. My self esteem has reached its lowest level; however, I was never a looser too. I cannot resign and let everybody continue to think that I am as dumb as a fish. I said then to myself that it’s about time to fight back. I believed that I’ve learned the basic knowledge which is enough to survive and be recognized. The daily reprimand has lessened and then finally, my efforts were recognized. I have learned to stand on what I believe is right. I ignored whatever insults that I received for fighting for what I believe in. I have learned to motivate myself and convince myself that everything will turn out right. Those were the days when I truly hated for all the embarrassment that he has caused me. However, since I decided to stay and prove my worth, I tried to keep my pace with him. With every discussion/argument, I tried to learn from it. I had to keep on the positive lane if I wanted to keep working with him. It wasn’t easy. I worked hard and in every step of the way, there were always comments. It was never enough. There were always a lot to be learned. He was a perfectionist. In every potential that he see in a person, he takes advantage. He kept on pushing and dragging me to move forward. There are times that I thought that I can’t go on anymore but then after crying out the fatigue that I felt, I kept moving with him. There are times that the difficulty becomes too much to bear, pressure increases by ten folds, but I still went on and fortunately still comes out a stronger, wiser, and more learned person. I strongly feel that working with him is a constant training. There is always a goal to accomplish and achieving it is the most important. No matter how much effort or time you have exerted if you weren’t able to give the expected result, it is as good as you have done nothing. As a result oriented boss, 99% and 101% is still not achieved. Challenge is constant when working with him.
Moreover, as I worked with him I tried to know him as a person. What make’s him tick and what make’s him growl like an animal. As my capability improves; my working relationship with him also becomes better. I have learned a lot. I have learned as well to appreciate him as my Boss, my Mentor, my Icon, my Leader, my Advocate, my Partner my Confidant, my Friend….It has not always been easy. It was not without pain sometimes but I still do take great pride in working with him and proud for what we have accomplished together. Now that his time to say goodbye has come, I cannot just let him go away without once again saying thanks to him…. Without saying to him: “Thank you Sir…I’ll do my best to become a better and successful individual so that when our path cross again, you’ll be more proud…Sir, you have made a mark in my life no one can ever erase; the wonderful memories will always remain in my heart…. ”.

Scenes and Lessons with my Japanese Boss

Below are sample Scenes and Lessons with my Japanese Boss. Enjoy reading and try to learn from it.
Scene 1:
It has just started then Direct Sales models when one model was not able to ship out due to critical material. MY Japanese Boss was very angry with me and my Colleague Sales Engineer for not informing him earlier.
As my Japanese Boss was in the middle of his litany:
Japanese Boss: Why did not inform?!! You can solve this problem?!! How much is this one? No checking?!! Why?!! No interesting?!! Who can pay?? You can pay??!! Pay na lng……
The Sales Engr(female also) moved behind the wall then fainted like a melting candle. MY Japanese Boss thought at first if it was a joke. He asked: Why? What is she doing? I tried to carry her but she was too heavy. My Japanese Boss ended up carrying her to the clinic near the office. I think Mr Ipposhi was worried too at that time.
Lesson 1:
Inform immediate Boss earlier if there are problems that you cannot solve on your own but make sure that you have done 1st all means and ways to solve it.
Scene 2:

It was in the morning when I was informed that starting that day I’ll be the Production Planner for PCP. There was no turnover at that time; the previous production planner just forwarded to me the latest Production plan and Shipment Plan and My Japanese Boss instructed the daily target. In the afternoon, the Filipino Production Supervisor called and told me to zero out variances and change the plan to actual. I was revising the plan when My Japanese Boss asked me to show him the updated plan, thus, I gave him the revised one. When he cannot see any variances, he kicked my table and with my clipboard on top of it. He called the Filipino Production Supervisor and me in the meeting table:
My Japanese Boss: Why?!! Why did you change the plan?
Sheila: Sir, Sir Joel (Filipino Production Supervisor) said that I change it.
My Japanese Boss: and you followed? Why? Is he your boss?? Is he???
While we were having the conversation, he kept on kicking my chair.
Lesson 2:

You can only follow instructions from other Departments Boss if it was confirmed by your immediate Boss. Also, production plan cannot be changed if there is no Production Volume Revision or no instruction from immediate Boss.
Scene 3:
I was handling then GTI when Drive Production has stop due to delayed delivery from GTI. My Japanese Boss asked for an explanation, I went to him carrying with me 3 papers. I started explaining when:
My Japanese Boss: What is this? Do you expect me to understand?!!!
Are you not ashamed to show me such report?!!!
I Don’t like to talk to you.
After which he throws the papers.
Lesson 3:
Before reporting to your immediate Boss, make sure that to consider your presentation. Make sure that it will easily understand and consolidate the data. Make a summary and be ready for a detailed report.
Scene 4:
It was 11:00pm then when I was in PCP’s van on the way home when Mr Ipposhi called. He was very angry, I tried to explain but he doesn’t let me talk. I was cut every time I tried so I let him talk, let him pour his anger. I think it took him an hour with his monologue when he was finally finish, he said, “hello?” and the only word that I was able to feed was “yes sir?” then he said “ok, bye! The next day, he called for meeting to discuss the issue.
Well, it wasn’t the 1st time anyway and definitely wasn’t the last.
Lesson 4:
If My Janeses Boss is very angry, do not argue. At first, listen to what he has to say. If he is too furious to the maximum level, he will leave you after he pours out his anger afterwards; he calls again for a meeting. Once he asks for an explanation, go direct to the point; he doesn’t need too many excuses.
